The climate in the Green Valley Arizona area is what you might expect to find in a southwest desert environment. From late Fall to early Spring, the weather is mild; averaging a minimum of 60°. November through February are the coldest months, with temperatures typically ranging from 40°–75°. Occasional Winter frosts are not uncommon. About midway through February, the temperature starts to rise again with sunny warm days, and cool breezy nights. If you are migrating here from the northern regions of the US, you will undoubtedly find the Fall, Winter, and Spring climates a real joy. It is not unusual to have days where you can sit on your patio in shorts and watch the snow fall on Mt. Wrightson (elevation of 9432 ft.). The daytime skies are incredibly blue, sunsets are often a blazing red, and the night skies are clear enough to be an astronomer's dream come true. Jacuzzi stargazing is a common entertainment among Green Valley residents!
The summer months of May through August bring a dry heat ranging from 90°–100°+. Daily temperature ranges, from morning low to daytime highs, can vary as much as 50°+ in the summer months. This occurs because of the primarily dry climate of this southern Arizona desert region. My first Summer in Green Valley (2000) was spent inside on most days. Eventually I adjusted to the heat and learned that many outdoor activities can be done early in the morning or later in the evening. It is not uncommon to go out for a night time stroll and meet many of your neighbors!

Summers are normally hot and dry in most areas of Pima county, with an occasional monsoon-like downpour. During these rains, it is not unusual to have area roadways flood. That is why you will see what we call arroyos throughout the county. These have been constructed to try to keep the flooding to a minimum. The DOT of Pima County always suggests caution while driving during an active monsoon.
